I'm going to review some musicals. Given that I'm writing my own, this means I am usually watching a show with a percentage of my brain focused on asking questions like "how the fuck did they do that?" or "why the fuck would they do that?" or perhaps even "how in the ever-loving name of [deity] did they fill the room to watch this pile of shite?".
I have no interest in becoming a critic. I mostly want to share how watching the musical made me feel, given the aforementioned info. This means these reviews should be seen less like recommendations and more like little windows into the wider creative process.
Structure is good. I'll break it down in the following way:
- To begin
- Craft (book, music, lyrics)
- Cast
- Production
- Summary
- Score
Instead of a star rating, I'll do some convoluted and bespoke appraisal system for each show. See above - I have no interest in becoming a critic.
